A Profile: Rami

I'm really liking this whole 'profile' thing I'm doing on my friends, especially considering they are really interesting people that are worth getting to know, so I decided to make it a thing now. This is Rami.
So much contemplation.
1. Introduce yourself and give us one fun fact about you: My name is Rami Ghorra, I am 17 years old and one fun fact about me is that sometimes, if you see me walking in a weird way it's because I'm trying to synchronize the rhythm of my steps with the rhythm of the song stuck in my head.

2. What is your favorite movie: I don't have a favorite movie simply because I'm in love with a whole bunch of movies but I can give you my definition of a good movie: A really good movie is one with a really strong core and story. Now, in my eyes, there are two ways to make your movie interesting: First of all, a fantastic and intricate scenario that will you make think about the complexity of the whole story for days (Ex: After Hours by Martin Scorcese). Second of all, really work on the technicality of the movie so that when you think about it all you can see are frame shots or sounds, or be reminded of the emotions you felt at the same time as the characters did. (Ex: Eyes Wide Shut by Stanley Kubrick).

3. If you could be anyone in the world for a day, who would it be and why: I can't decide who I'd be, so I'll tell you what type of person I would want to be: I'd choose someone who's been dead for a while, someone who invented something, a scientist, an artist, someone who discovered or innovated something during his time. I'd like to be that person and live as him in my generation, to see what he thinks about the world today and maybe discover something new while I'm at it.

4. What's the biggest regret of your life (if you have one)? The biggest regret of my life... I don't think I've had one so far and I hope I won't have any because I think we only have so much space for memories and it's a shame to waste it on regrets, but if I had to choose one, it'd be that I didn't tell my fencing teacher how much he meant to me before he passed away.

5. What musical instrument do you identify with the most and why: This is both a hard and really easy question because I don't identify to one single instrument, rather a whole orchestra. When I think of a harmony or  write a song, I never have one single instrument in mind. So if I had to choose one instrument from our contemporary world I'd choose the Eigenharp which is a sort of controller that can integrate all the instruments you want as long as you connect it to a special software on your computer. You can loop and overdub with it and each key has this ability to bend (like when you bend a guitar string).

6. If you were deserted on an island, what would you bring with you: I was thinking about this question because, I mean, what could I possibly bring with me? I'd only have one source of entertainment for the rest of my life, which is not nearly enough. I can't bring just one music instrument, or just one camera or just one human being. So in the scenario where I haven't lived on a deserted island for my whole life and one day, someone tells me that I have to leave and that I have to choose something to take with me (considering that day won't be in the near future), I'd bring a time machine so I could go back every time I need something, grab it and get back to my island.

7. What 3 adjectives do people use to describe you: I'm creative, have a child-like mind and stubborn in the way that I always want to be right.

8. What's your favorite word: Choosing a favorite word is like choosing a favorite color or a favorite image: It's impossible. Every color depends on what you're painting it on, every image depends on what comes before and what comes after (in a movie, at least). So to choose a favorite word on its own is impossible. So I guess my 'favorite' words come from my favorite quotes: When you love a quote, every single word of this quote becomes your favorite word because without each one of these words, the quote would just not be the same, and it would not mean what it means to you.

9. What advice would you give your 10 year old self: Giving advice to my 10 year old self would implicate that I want to change something in my past which I don't really want to, but I guess what I could tell the 10 year old Rami is to not fall in love too fast, but I don't think it would really change anything.

10. And what do you wish for your 28 year old self: I would want to make a living out of being a sound engineer, hopefully a well renowned one with my own contacts, who's done some really interesting things and is working on lots of screenplays. I hope I'm still reading and still interested in everything and most importantly, that my love for movies hasn't changed. I also hope I will have met interesting people along the way.
