My Must-Watch Shows of the Moment

You guys probably already know this, but my favorite hobby ever (except reading, ofc) is watching a TV Show. I love delving into the characters' stories, getting to experience their pain and joy in more profound ways than I would if they were reduced to a 2 hour long movie. So over the past year, I have started a bunch of shows. Some were bad, some were good, and some were mindblowing. These are my recommendations.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that I tear up during every single episode of this show. I'm a sucker for a good family show and this one just takes the cake. 1) Milo Ventimiglia is an absolute babe (He actually features in the show I'm mentioning next, which is another reason why you should check it out if you haven't already). His character is such a good dad and it warms my heart every time he shares screen time with his kids. His scene with Sterling K Brown absolutely broke my heart, which brings me to 2) Sterling K. Brown is a revelation for me! He is hilarious and by far my favorite character on the show (This actually pushed me to start American Crime Story, which is n.3 on the list) 3) I love the ladies of the show. From Mandy Moore's Rebecca to Chrissy Metz's Kate, this show gives us a selection of imperfect yet lovable women who share a whole array of struggles openly and unabashedly with us, making us love them all the more.

All in all, if you want a heartwarming/breaking show to binge on next, this one should definitely be on your list!

This show is the equivalent of a chicken noodle soup and cuddles when you're sick. There's just absolutely nothing that could make you feel better. I watched the show when I was a pre-teen then when I heard there was gonna be a sort of sequel, I started the series all over again. Plunging back into that world was as easy and wonderful as I thought it would be. I finished A Year in The Life recently and I've got to say, I didn't expect to be so touched by it. Of course I knew I would love seeing the Gilmore Girls and their whole clan in a more recent setting (No spoilers, but the new sign up in Luke's Dinner made me laugh for days) but I didn't anticipate just how much. The episodes are an hour and a half each and so they're much more cinematic in scope, which means that all the scenery is beautifully represented and each episode really gives time for a story (That doesn't mean that we're missing out on Lorelai and Rory's famous witty (and super speedy!) retorts though). I'm still ambivalent towards Rory's storyline (Again, no spoilers, but a lot of the things she did in the revival were very uncharacteristic of her) and towards the last 4 words!!! I thought they would give me the closure I needed, but they just opened up a world of doubt and questions (I'm secretly hoping this was intentional so that they'd do another revival soon. Not gonna lie, I'd be very happy about that)

I am very fascinated by true crime stories and always love researching the facts and making my own mind up about things, so it's no surprise that when I discovered the OJ trial, I wanted to gobble up every piece of information dedicated to it. What actually pushed me to start the show was that I studied a scene from it in my Introduction to Media Studies class where we analyzed the representation of race in some TV texts. The OJ trial really was the trial of the century, and I think it's always important to stay educated on events like these, not only as a media major but as a woman living in a world where an attorney's merit was actually determined by her haircut and not her skills.

This is the most recent show I've watched and honestly, the one I'm most excited about. Created by the Wachowskis (the creators of The Matrix Trilogy), it tells the story of 8 strangers from across the world who find themselves psychically connected, able to share thoughts, feelings and skills with each other. I have fallen absolutely in love with this show and each one of its characters (It features what is probably one of my favorite TV Show love stories, which is really not saying much because I love love). I think it's so nice that this show encourages diversity, not only with its premise (the sensates are literally a different species than us), but especially in its cast: It is always a pleasure to see a transgender character actually played by a transgender person, a rarity in Hollywood. I am extremely disappointed that the show got cancelled after only two seasons (don't worry, it is not a testament to the quality of the show but to the resources it takes to film in 14 different countries) but am very excited for the 2 hour season finale that is set to air in 2018. I highly, highly recommend this show as its got something for everyone: Science fiction, romance and extremely hot Latino men. What's not to like?
