Summer Reading List
I think I've already established that if I had to do one thing for the rest of my life, it'd be to eat? sleep? perish away on the internet? read. But being in school 10 months a year, I don't always get to spend as much time as I'd like on leisure reading (Who am I kidding?) and have built quite a collection of books that I've been putting off reading until summer. So I thought I'd share my top 3 for all you bookworms who don't know what to read next.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner: I know, I can't believe I haven't read this yet either. I spent the last months in a romance-novel kind of funk and wasn't up for this book at all but then I saw the trailer for the upcoming movie adaptation and was like Shit, why haven't I started this book yet?!. It appealed to me a lot, being a fan of dystopian worlds and action-packed novels and for all you Divergent or Hunger Games fan, this book will be right up your street. I've already started the first installment but someone told me you really had to work through it before starting to enjoy the series so I don't know what to expect but I'll post a review as soon as I'm done with it.
The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell: I'm currently watching the Sex and the City series and I love it, I've watched The Carrie Diaries series and loved it as well (I was so gutted when they canceled it!!) so I have high hopes for this one. I really like having an insight into a character's life and past and I would also really like to see if the TV series did the books justice. What I like about this series is that even though it tackles subjects such as friendships and relationships, it's mainly about growing up and really finding out who you are and I think it could be very relatable to people in my age group.
The Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin: I feel a bit conflicted about this one because I'm a huge fan of the story and the TV series (I'm talking proper fangirl, can spend all day talking about it kind of fan) and so reading now would spoil me everything: If I start the first book, I'll get to the 4th by the end of the month and knowing a character dies every 2 pages, it'll just be a mess.. But I also feel like I need to read it to get deeper into the character's lives (That didn't sound creepy at all) and because-let's be honest-can a story be more bad ass?
But the thing with these books is that you have to be extremely concentrated while reading and we all know I'm a drifter so if it comes to, it'll be a hard one. Anyone who's read them, please help!
And if you have other recommendations, please give them to me and I'll be sure to check them out!
P.S: I've been thinking about changing my url for a while, would you guys like that?
