Smelly Donkeys, Delicious Bagels & Creepy Men | Marseille 2015
I totally spaced out during the weekend and forgot to upload this but alas, Day 3 is finally upon us!
As I mentioned in my previous post, we woke up really freakin early to go to a small village just west of Marseille called "L'Estaque". We had a guided tour of a part of it but to be honest, I can't relay a single word that was said about it (Short attention span and all).
On the way up a hill, we were met by these donkeys and as soon as I saw them I was like "Hells no". I don't trust donkeys, they're vicious and gross.
After that, we went near the sea to rest a bit and soak up the sun. I was told it would be raining and freezing and so I came extremely overdressed but the truth is, there was not one bad day there. Thanks for nothing, weather reports.
We tried a Marseille speciality there called "Chi chi", which is basically a huge churro without the chocolate to dip in. It was glorious.
After that, we got back to the Old Port to have lunch before we had to start (and finish, thanks for the last-minute warning teachers!) to film our movie.
Then came the interesting part...
Not only were we filming in the most popular place of the city, but it was Sunday and International Women's Day. It was really hard to get anything done what with the crowds and all but the worst part was all the creepy guys out there. I'll give you the run-down:
1. Old dude that decided we wanted to hear his life story and warned us not to let boys touch us until we're 18. Lovely.
2. Just a weird guy that looked at us weirdly and was an all-round weird human being (My friend was looking at a map for filming purposes and he just stood next to her and looked at her. Just staring, like a right old creeper).
3. Guy with literally no nose (When he spoke, snot would pour out of his 'nose'. It was disgusting) who decided he wanted to sit in front of our camera, and got mad when we asked him (very politely might I add!) to move for 10 minutes. He then proceeded to walk around us menacingly until we decided we were done with this shit.
Whilst walking back to the hotel, we were deliberating where to film next (cause there was no way in hell we were going back to Creepers Land) when a guy got extremely mad at my friend because she was sitting on the sidewalk. We laughed a little at his outburst because it was totally uncalled for and decided to go to the hotel.
Just before our hotel is a shopping mall, and we saw that same guy looking at uswith crazy eyes through the glass of the mall (It's important to note that the mall is in a different direction than where he was initially going, so we had the right to assume he changed his route just to follow us). We did the smart thing and got into the mall, and -yes, you guessed it- he followed us in.
We were so creeped out, we didn't think rationally (Why would he attack a group of 7 people in a busy street or a mall with a security guy just next to us? Right? Right????), all we could see was him, walking around us like a predator that would pounce on his prey at any moment. The security guy sensed our distress and asked us what was going on so we told him and he went to talk to the guy, just to see if he truly was a creep or not. He assured us he was okay but still gave us the police's number in case (which we saved on speed dial). We still spent two hours in the mall just to make sure we had gotten rid of him (and we had, thank god!).
It was all very emotionally taxing and at that point, all I wanted was to go to sleep.
And that concludes my trip! (The other two days were spent 1. At the school (yes, we actually did something other than eat and walk around), and 2. travelling back home). I loved writing about it (Except that last part, I wish I could permanently erase it from my brain)
Leave a comment telling me if you liked these posts and what you would like to read next. Until next time! .x

| If you stand under the bridge while a train is passing by, it literally sounds like your death is coming. |

| I have no idea how he could be so close to them, they smelt so fucking bad. |
| That's the view from the hill, I'll admit it was worth the smelly donkeys. |
