Being True to Yourself
In a world full of people trying to tell you how to behave and who to be, it gets hard being true to yourself. You'll find yourself doing things you wouldn't usually do in front of some people or in some situations.
For example, when you have overbearing parents that are always trying to dictate your behavior and who push you to do things you don't wanna do, it's really hard staying true to yourself. Luckily for my sisters and I, our parents know that pushing your child into something they don't wanna do will only make them resent you and so they try as much as possible to give us our space and to let us figure things out on our own, as long as we don't cross the limits. I'm not saying they let us do everything we want to do, but they never force us to act a certain way or to be people we don't wanna be and that really helped us grow as our own people.
Nothing is worth getting constantly put down. If your "friends" are always treating you like dirt and always try to change who you are then you should take a step back and ask yourself "Do I really wanna put up with this? Is this really who I am?". It may suck having to let go of people but it sucks even more losing sense of who you are and what you're worth.
Believe me, as freaks go I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest one but I still found my place with a group of friends that will never ask me to give myself up for stupid idealistic ideas of how people are supposed to be and even if they did, I wouldn't do it. Nothing and no one is worth sacrificing who you are for. Don't be afraid to speak up, to let them know that they can't just treat you that way and that you won't take shit from them.
Never let anyone step on you. Always be true to who you are and what you feel.
