Divergent

I discovered the Divergent trilogy a little less than a year ago and have been hooked ever since.
The story is set in a dystopian Chicago where society is divided into 5 factions based on personality. At 16, you take a test to determine in which faction you belong. The books follow Tris as she unravels mysteries about this society of hers and how she deals with them.
Now I'm not usually a big fan of sci-fi books but I was pleasantly surprised when I started this one. I've been waiting for the movie to come out for a really long time and I can't believe I saw it, it still seems a little surreal. It was so weird watching everything I imagined come to life somewhat like I thought it would. My friend Tarek and I just completely lost it in the movie theater. We were squealing, punching the seats, whispering things such as "Oh my god this is when (...) !" and reciting the actors' lines with them. I'm sorry to anyone who had to endure that..

I was really concerned as to who would be able to play such complex characters but I wasn't disappointed at all: The actors were amazing and embodied their characters perfectly. Big kudos to Shailene Woodley who carried this movie without any flaw: She didn't only play Tris, she became Tris.
It was really incredible watching her scenes with Miles Teller (Peter) because I'm such a big fan of their previous work (The Spectacular Now) and it amazed me how they could play lovers in one movie and enemies in the other and still be completely credible. As for Ansel Elgort, I savored every moment they were together on screen in anticipation for The Fault in Our Stars.
But it was really the scenes with Theo James in them that made me the happiest because every fan of the book had big expectations for Four and he met every single one of them. He is an amazing actor who played Four to the tee and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of him.

The movie was great, the soundtrack was great, I loved every minute of it and still felt like 2h20mins were not enough.
As a fan of the book, it did disappoint me a bit when some things weren't shown (Edward, anyone?) or weren't given as much importance as in the book but I do understand it. The book is always full of details whereas everything is compressed in the movie. But I do strongly suggest you go watch it and if you already did and loved it as much as I did, then read the books because Veronica Roth is a simple genius.
